Our first day in Bangkok – วันหนึ่งที่กรุงเทพฯ

First of all, for those who are interested in our hitch-hiking video, this is the link for it:

Our first impressions of Bangkok were not the best, because as soon as we arrived at the bus station in Bangkok at 2:50 A.M. and left the bus, the first guys wanted to take us to the Khao San Road for 400 Baht. But you can get there by taxi for 100 Baht.

And so we took a taxidriver WITH taximeter and drove to the Khao San Road. At that time, it was very easy to get to our destination; the roads were empty, so that the driver could race through the city with 80-100 km/h. Nevertheless, it took us about 40 minutes to arrive ‘cause the capitol of Thailand is so big. But the taxi driver also tried to get some Baht more by pretending not to know where the Tanao Road is. He left the car for several times to ask some guys at the street but then disappeared for some minutes. Meanwhile, the taximeter counted 20 more Baht. It was just pollution for nothing. That's what I dislike.

After finding and checking in our small Guest House, we just relaxed for some hours and went to sleep at about 6 A.M. 5 hours later, we stood up, surfed in the internet and searched for some food.

We are connected with many Thai guys at http://www.interpals.net/. That is a platform where you can write to people all over the world for language exchange. You can everybody let to know what languages you want to learn and what languages you are ALREADY able to speak (you can also specify how good you know the several languages). The most of the Thai guys we meet at this platform are students at universities who want to learn English and many of them are already quite good in writing and speaking.

The boys weren't so motivated for pictures
So for today we had 4 guides that led us through Bangkok. We crossed the big river (เจ้าพระยา) that is floating through Bangkok by boat and went to Wat Arun (วัดอรุณ). The Thai people can climb the temple for free but foreigners have to pay 50 Baht. We spoke Thai to the woman behind the counter and told her that we live in Chiang Rai for 7 months, so that we can also be counted as Thai people but it was all useless. We had to pay the money. Even the fact that we have black hair didn’t change anything.

The view over Bangkok is amazing. You can see how gigantic the capitol is with all its skyscrapers, temples, streets, cars and human beings. At that place, on top of Wat Arun, we took some videos to show you the nice view over Bangkok and as well an interview with our Thai friends.
I hope (for those listeners and watchers of our videos who can not understand the Thai language) that you nonetheless enjoy the videos.
The video will be uploaded soon, hopefully today in the evening.

Her English is very good. โชคดีนะครับ

On the right side, you can see Kanom filling out a sheet of paper that we got from those friendly Thai guys here. They all study tourism. We had to answer questions like:

Have you ever been to Khao San Road?
How many days you normally spend for this trip?         How do you feel about this trip?
Title of the sheet:   THE QUESTIONNAIRE FOR TOURIST BEHAVIOUR

Our Symbol : T for THAISCHLAND
You can also check out our Thaischland - Facebook page.
